Cambodian Odyssey 2017

Bikes in front of temple in CambodiaJoin the Parkinson’s QLD Cambodian Odyssey 2017!

Imagine cycling dusty roads within the Mekong Delta, open to the exquisite and ever-changing scenery of Cambodia, the jewel of Southeast Asia, knowing that with every kilometre you cover, you will be raising funds for Parkinson’s Queensland to continue its important work.

Parkinson’s Queensland is offering you the opportunity to join a group of travel & philanthropy enthusiasts this November with the launch of the Cambodian Odyssey 2017, a new initiative developed in partnership with Inspired Adventures. This is your opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people with Parkinson’s in Queensland, alongside a memorable experience.

During this 11-day adventure you will cycle from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh and experience everything Cambodia has to offer by immersing yourself in traditional Khmer culture. The highlights will include captivating sights, ancient temples, classical Khmer art and delicious traditional Cambodian cuisine. Witness the exquisite wonders as you travel countryside, into traditional communities and bustling cities, explore impressive jungle temples and gaze upon the majestic spires of Angkor Wat.

This challenge will take place from the 16th-26th November, 2017. If you wish to participate, a free information pack can be downloaded here – simply enter your details on the Inspired Adventures website for the Parkinson’s Queensland Cambodian Odyssey, and you will instantly be emailed the information pack and a registration form should you wish to join us in Cambodia!

FAQ:

I’ve registered for the challenge – how to do I start fundraising?

Parkinson’s Queensland uses everydayhero to help participants in the Cambodian Odyssey 2017 to fundraise and share their progress with their friends and family. Using everydayhero allows people you know to support you through the challenge by providing encouragement and contributing to your fundraising goal. To view the everydayhero page CLICK HERE and select the Cambodian Odyssey 2017.

I know someone participating in the challenge. How can I support them?

You can provide support in a number of ways. A little bit of encouragement or extra affirmation can go a long way. If you are inspired by what your friend or family member is doing – tell them! They might also be in training for the cycling – especially if it is something they have not done before. They might need a work out buddy! Going for a cycle or training session with them will help them stay motivated and clear on their goals. Finally, providing support for them to reach (and exceed!) their fundraising goal is paramount to the success of the Cambodian Odyssey 2017. We are in this together, making a difference for people with Parkinson’s. To contribute to the fundraising goals, CLICK HERE and select the participant you wish to support.

I don’t know anyone participating in the challenge. Can I still contribute?

If you wish to contribute but do not know anyone participating, you may like to do one of three things:

  1. Join the challenge – get yourself on board and bring your friends!
  2. Support one of the participants who has a story that resonates with you. You can read their stories on the challenge page. Instead you may like to support the participant who needs a helping hand to reach their fundraising target, or you may wish to support a participant who has almost reached their target – and help them exceed it!
  3. Support the overall campaign here.
